Dirty Work

For years now I have applied the Zen discipline of not rushing into things on ego impulses; not wolfing down the tasty morsels on my plate; not tearing open that enveloppe that I had been waiting for; waiting three days before taking that important decision. And, of course, rolling my words on my tongue like pebbles before barging in with a witty comment or a bad-tempered criticism.

Nothing repressive, you understand, just this Druid´s daily exercises at self-mastery.

So you can imagine how happy I feel, oh yes, like a pea in a pod, now that I have attained the right age, to slurp my soup a little bit, not worrying that it might not look attractive, and splash around with colours, without having to think which is best with which other.

Contrast, my friends, contrast is all and everything.

And… a little dirty work, now and then.

I love chaos Journal

I have just finished a journal called “I love chaos”, and really got going! Sometimes when I do collage work I get this “what the heck” feeling, a sort of exuberant naughtiness, the strong feeling that I work “outside the box”. When I get there, I don´t even know if I like what I do or not, it´s just not the point!

Some interesting ideas emerged from this journal…like,

Words structure space.

No colour is better than another.

Chaos is the mother of possibility.

…Had me a real good time not-thinking!

Collage work

To answer a question put to me yesterday, yes, all the illustrations of this journal are collage work of my own. Except one or two like The Raku Bowl, and The World Teacher & Yours Truly, all pics are mine.

My collage work is not Photoshop; it´s old-fashioned scissors & glue stuff. All Mixed Media work is also my own.
